The station marker light box consists of a box with nine 2 inch holes fitted with a red lens and a hand operated hinged shutter. Two light fixtures with 25 watt bulbs are mounted inside the box. It is used during night replenishment operations to indicate by code the commodity being transferred. The code is set up by opening various combinations of shutters to allow the light to show.
