How to Choose the Right Cleat Size

The cleat needs enough room for the rope to wrap around its horns. A cleat that is too small can make the line pile up. This can make the line harder to tie and release.
A common starting rule is one inch of cleat length for each 1/16 inch of rope width. Use the table only as a first check.

Mounting the Cleat
